The existence of more than 4 dimensions is not proven and not universally accepted. It is but a theory that tries to explain more than we can currently explain with our established theories. It will remain a concept until it can predict something that was not predicted by any other theory.
Even then, it is just a model like any other theory in physics. It describes the universe in the best way possible and serves to explain and predict and phenomena so that humans may understand the rules of the universe.
The concept of the wave-particle duality, for example, exists for a lack of a better model of the underlying rules that govern the quantum world.
The solution in this article helps physicists to determine if the model of several additional dimensions explains our universe better than the current models. Therefore, it is not “mucking about with words in order to avoid facts”.

Yet still, the naked, strutting Emporer has no clothes on.

And still, if you eat two out of six apples and write 6 – 2 = 4 then you have reported reality.

But still, if you write 4 – 6 = (-2) you have NOT reported any possible reality, there are NO such things as minus apples, and you are being a silly sausage.

And still, things are what they ARE, not what some Maths-lover (however charming and bright) insists that they MUST BE.

And still, the word ‘dimension’ relates to length measurement, and an object can be measured up-and-down, side-to-side, and front-to-back and these are its three dimensions, and any other use of ‘dimension’ is mucking about with words in order to avoid facing facts, to mislead the young, and to win the Nobel Silly Sausage Prize.

I say unto thee: distrust all astro-physicists; buy no second-hand bicycles from them; rush back home for your raincoat immediately if one of them greets you with “nice day”.

(I do not believe in Big Bang. You guessed?)
